The original tire size can be found from owner's booklet, groove of left front door, storage box, and the lid of gas tank.
Tire size can also be checked on the sidewall of current tire.
Wherever the place is, the tire performance can be affected by different weather conditions, especially the gripping ability. The tire's friction index should be around 0.7~0.9 on the dry asphalt road, under good road conditions. The friction will decrease to 0.4~0.6 on the slippery road after raining. Under such circumstance, the braking distance will be 1.6 times as much as it on the dry road. If there is un-compacted snow on the ground, the friction will decrease to 0.25~0.4 , and the braking distance will come to 2.4 times. As the vehicle rolling over to make the snow compacted and intensive, the friction will decrease to 0.2~0.3, the braking distance will be extended to 3.2 times. The friction will decrease to 0.1 if the tire is running on ice, which will be in lack of gripping power to extend the braking performance as long as 8 times.
(1) If you live in rainy area
The braking distance will depend on the tire characteristics. The tread will drain out the water while driving, which will provide more grip and traction. You are suggested to select tires according to the follow standards:
• The pattern design with good drainage ability
The “water holding capacity” is growing in direct proportion to the ratio of groove and trench. The figure and direction of the pattern will drain out the water to the side faces.
• Anti-slippery compound
Tire manufacturers recommend using silicone anti slippery tread to resist the slipping on wet road.
For now, all the Prinx tires are classified with EU labeling; marking the wet grip, gas saving and noisy level, so that you will be convenient to choose your needed products.
Prinx tip:It will need more distance to stop the car if equipped with worn tires on wet road. Besides, there is a big chance that aquaplaning may happen as well.
(2) If you are living in dry and rainless area.
If you are living in dry and rainless area, the precise maneuverability and agility will be the key factors to consider. The harder the pattern is, the more precise the maneuverability will be. Our suggestion to choose tires is as below:
• Low ratio of groove/trench The lower the ratio of groove/trench is, the bigger area the tire can touch the ground, which will enhance the gripping ability.
• The wide and hard tread
The wide and hard tread is capable to reduce the movement of thick pattern.
Compared with the wet road, it's safer to drive on the dry ground. However, careful driving is still recommended, since the gripping ability will be receded if running from asphalt to gravelly road.
(3) If you are in cold and snowy area
If you are in cold and snowy area, the braking distance on icy road depends on the quality of winter tires. Generally if the temperature is lower than 7℃, the tire will become rigid to effect the gripping force. The advantages of winter tire are as below:
The pattern of winter tire is more dedicated, which can penetrate the water films formed by the melting snow. It can also absorb the water film in an extent, which will cause better friction and gripping power.
The pattern of the winter tire is deeper. The snow is not easy to stuff in. The contacting area is widenso that the gripping capability is improved.
The rubber of winter is softer. The contacting area will spread under pressure, so that the snow can be extruded out. What's more, the road surface could be very bumping on under icy and snow conditions. Compared with normal tires, the bigger contacting area of winter tires with softer materials can be more stable while running on the bumping road.
Prinx tip: You must not drive over-speed even if adopted the winter tires. Please control your speed according to the road situation.
As the only part of a car contacting the road, the maneuverability, comfort, braking distance and gas saving of a tire will be very depending. Different kinds of tires are demanded according to different driving situation.
(1) If you are driving in cities
If you are driving in cities, you are suggested to choose tires accordingly as below:
• Short braking distance
In order to avoid the dangerous situation in city (driving across the people), tire of short distance is needed on dry and wet road.
• Long Running Mileage
A car will continuously endure driving and braking force when it starts and stops more often. The rubber contacting with ground will be more easily to have deformation and slip, through which the tread rubber will be worn. Therefore, you are suggested to choose long mileage tire.
(2) If you want to drive on the high way
If you want to drive on the high way, the maneuverability will be the key factor since the tire's location is in the end of transportation of engine power. The car needs to keep on track at a high-speed level. You are suggested to choose the tires according to the following rules:
• Short braking distance
You need to choose the tires with shortest braking distance making sure to get maximum safety.
• Riding comfort
While long-distance driving, the tires with lower noise with less choppy is recommended to make you more comfortable and less fatigued.
(3) If you like racing with speed and furious
If you like racing with speed and furious, you are suggested to choose tires as following:
• Firm grip capability
The tires should have a firm grip capability on both wet and dry ground.
• Good Driving Performance
While driving, the tire should be precisely on instructing and be steady on turning.
(4) If you like 4x4 crossing
If you like 4x4 crossing, and enjoy its fun, you are suggested to choose tires accordingly:
• On off-road condition
The AT tires can be applied on the off road condition. It has to be anti-impacted, anti-penetrated and have good wear ability.
Do not outgas the tire while driving on off-road. A firmly inflated tire will provide biggest strength to resist the impact.
Tire can be deflated in an extent when driving on sand to improve the maneuverability. In some circumstance, the tire pressure can be as low as 0.6 PA. And the tire needs to be inflated again when driving on normal road conditions.
• On Mud road
MT tires with big pattern blocks are applied while driving on mud road. It will be easier to drive if deflate the tire a little. The big blocks design can also make the car easier to drive across the mud and make the tire to “ clean itself ”. Do not hit the throttle too hard in mud. Otherwise it will lead to a lack of the grip capability.
